Boston Latin School vs. Lincoln Sudbury: Girls' Volleyball: September 17, 2003 4p.m.

The purple and white stripes of BLS met with the navy-red insignia of Lincoln Sudbury in an intense but harrowing series of games Wednesday afternoon. The Home Team won the first two sets of games with a 2-0 and 2-0 lead; however, the competition grew difficult--with both teams having 20-some volleys, JV and Varsity diving for impossible serves, and many close plays. Memorable moments for BLS included Anna George's graceful tap--above the net, guiding the ball in two LS players' blind spot. The crowd cheered and screamed; the gym thundered with WolfPack induced feet stamping. As exciting as ever, the BLS girls' volleyball teams did well for their first of many games. And although BLS lost both JV and Varsity games to Lincoln Sudbury, many of us during their half-minute practices, saw the potential of their ball-smacking talents--and hopefully, with better organization, BLS will have another championship banner to hang up for 2003.
